VACCINATIONS

For
both dogs and cats, immunization needs vary depending on
age, exposure to other animals, and if they travel to Lyme disease
areas.
We recommend doing wellness exams for your pet when they are 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks old. Following these three exams, we recommend yearly wellness exams until the pet is considered to be a senior pet. We recommend for a senior pet, wellness visits every 6 months; the needed vaccinations will be given at the first visit and recommended bloodwork done at the second visit. Dogs:
Age of immunization:
Initial puppy visit at 8 weeks of age, then 12 weeks, and
16 weeks. Adult dogs come in yearly.
Vaccines:
Parvo and distemper vaccine- are given at the initial visits
and yearly. Bordatella or kennel cough vaccine- yearly. Lymes
vaccine- yearly if exposure to risk. Rabies- at 4 months,
boostered in one year, then every two years.
Cats:
Age of immunization:
Initial kitten visit at 8 weeks, then at 12 weeks, and 16
weeks of age. Adult cats come in yearly.
Vaccines:
Distemper/Respiratory Complex- at kitten visits, in one year,
and then every two years. Leukemia- is given yearly to cats
that are in contact with cats from outside their home. Rabies-
is given at 4 months of age, boostered in one year, and then
given every two years.
